The Desert Foothills area boasts a number of long-established and locally-supported non-profit organizations. Most are continually seeking additional volunteer and financial help from area residents.
Foothills Caring Corps
The Foothills Caring Corps are dedicated to promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for older residents throughout our community. They do this through a dedicated group of volunteers and staff, who deliver services and support that provide access to basic needs such as food, medical care and activities that promote physical, mental and emotional health.

Kiwanis of Carefree
The generous spirit of the Kiwanis of Carefree has played a role in the history of Carefree that continues today. With a focus on helping children recognize and develop their potential, this philanthropic group offers youth service organizations, post-secondary scholarships, summer art programs, community science fairs, mentoring, special needs support and more. The vast majority of the funds raised are invested programs benefiting in the children of our community. A percentage of funds is also donated to eradicate diseases in third world countries and to disaster relief around the world, in conjunction with Kiwanis International initiatives.
The Carefree club has about 200 members, ranking them in the top ten largest Kiwanis clubs in the world. Their work locally honors the belief that investing one's time, talents, energies and experiences will make a world of difference tomorrow. Activities include bi-annual Pancake Breakfasts, Western Nights, mixers and other social events.
Foothills Food Bank and Resource Center
Seniors in need are the fastest growing demographic, as they struggle to make ends meet on fixed incomes. The food they receive from the Foothills Food Bank allows them to use their limited funds to pay other expenses.
Desert Foothills Library
Although not geographically in the Town of Carefree, the Desert Foothills Library is the public library for the Town and the Foothills region. They offer a full range of items for check out including books, audio books, DVDs, music CDs and magazines.
Located at 38443 N. School House Rd. (one block north of Cave Creek Rd. on the east side) the library is open seven days a week! Carefree residents are encouraged to participate as cardholders, donors or volunteers.

The Holland Center
Located in Scottsdale and serving the communities of North Scottsdale, Cave Creek, and Carefree, the Holland Center is a unique partnership dedicated to enriching the Desert Foothills community by celebrating arts and culture, treasuring our desert environment, assisting those in need, and encouraging lifelong learning. The Holland Center provides support, opportunity, and connection for area residents through a diverse array of programs, ranging from intriguing classes to fine arts exhibits to community theatre and beyond. Additionally, six well-equipped rooms are available to rent for various community events.
